75 X8, engine cover/shroud mount.

Post by BlazinC5 »

So I just completed a lil overhaul on the X8 engine. Split case, new pistons, honed up, clean, clean, clean. Well on the front side of the engine for the shroud,, I have this tab with rivets. No bolt hold downs like the other ends. Just a lil plate with nothing to hold that corner pictured.. anyone know what is suposed to be there? Or possibly have a pic? It's just not adding up with what I have and see that it's rite. Thanks. Btw, the rivets dint hold onto the shroud at all. They were just there.

I think you are missing the lower plate that goes between the shroud and the block. They changed JDparts and I can't figure out a way to put up an image of the parts diagram.

I would agree with Matt looks like ur missing the bottom plate. The way it looks the little bracket ur holding does not belong on the shroud. I'm thinking home made. If u need a bracket I believe I have a few new ones.

Thanks guys, that info makes a ton of sence. I was wondering why there were 2 bolts with pointy sheet metal behind them. Hadn't researched it that far yet. I am definitely missing that plate.

Seems that it would be fairly important in keeping the engine heat going the rite direction too. If you have an extra plate schavejdsnow, what would you want for it?
I would bet it fatigued and broke off. The shroud was a bit bent up, i figured it was from the drive belt thay exploded. But, knowing my Dad and Grandpa, one of them decided to not fix it cause it just didn't need it. lol. Dang farmers.
