Greetings from Northern Michigan.
Up her in gods country they are far and few between.
I have been looking about three years now.
I plan on doing a complete restoration; however I would like to have fun with it as I bring it back as close to original as possible.
I also got a parts sled with the deal so I’m hopping that will help with some needed parts.
I was wondering what I should look for before I venture off to far. Things that normally happen to sleds that I should check.
Thanks so much,
Jake

Engine crank seals - if they are bad, you will end up blowing a piston when you ride and it gets hot.
Dirty carbs of course cause issues.
Bad bearings in the drivetrain and suspension, always a possibility on any sled older then 10 years.

Thanks Matt,
The P/O said that he just replaced the crank seals however there is still a lot of blow by coming out near the exhaust manifold. The P/O said it was because the exhaust manifold gaskets need to be replaced so I ordered new ones.
I’ll check out the suspension to see if I can find anything obvious but I really don’t know what I’m looking for.

Frozen rusted or corroded suspension pivots are very common.jakewalter wrote:Thanks Matt,

Loosen the track, see if all the wheels in the suspension spin free. Look closely at the bearing behind the secondary clutch, that one goes bad first. After the track is loose, grab the driveshaft underneath and see if you can shift it around in a way it shouldn't.

Re: I finely found a 1978 Liquifire.
Thank you for all of the good information.
It definitely gives me a good place to start.
I know that I need a couple of exhaust gaskets.
I have them on order.
There is blow by coming out of the front of the engine.
The PO said that the gaskets is where the blow by is coming from.
