Looking for a good working fuel gauge for my 74 JD400. My sled has the steel tank.
1973 JDX8 (maybe parts sled)
1974 JD400
1975 JD800
1982 Trailfire LX 440

Finding nice working originals, or NOS fuel gauges is damn near impossible to find (my experience anyway)

John Deere part# AM31189 can be bought at any JD dealership.I use this fuel gauge on all my mid mounts(steel tanks) and they look and work great. They are just a tad shorter which lessons the chance of running out of gas.

That’s perfect! I knew an original would be hard to find but I just need something to plug the hole at least. I’ll have to run to my local dealer and order one up.

Another quick question - is this other gauge a vented type?
