Windshield needs a rubber
On the 00 and XX sleds the hood rests against the windshield when all the way closed or in the down position. There is supposed to be 2 rubber bumpers that goes inbetween all of this so the hood doesnt rub on the windshield. Those rubber bumpers are attached my the scews that hold the windshield on, the center most 2 screws on the windshield assembly.
I still have these old dry rotted pieces and they are in sad shape and cannot be used anymore.
This is my remedy, go to your local hardware store and see if they carry wiring "seal tight" wrap. If they have this stuff pray that they have the fittings too that attach to the end of the wrap. If they have the ends which is a steel piece with threads on one end, inside each end is a cone type rubber seal, it matches the rubber bumpers almost perfectly. Simply take apart the steel fitting and remove this piece and install on your pride and joy.

Dennie Kirk has similar rubber wrapped brass nuts, called 'well nuts'. Like said, similar, but I do not think these will lock into the pastic dash assembly and engine shroud.

Andy/Paul,
You can buy "well-nuts" at a good hardware store. I bought a set and installed them on my cyclone to mount the windshield.

DK has been selling the NOS well nuts, but they are not cheap.
As for the rubber bumpers, I don't follow, what product have you found Paul?

Seal tight is the actual name of this wire wrap. It is used when having multiple wires running in synch in a wet or oily envinroment......machine shop with coolant. The wired are encased in this gray stuff and have water tight steel fittings in each end, they have a rubber cone type seal in the fittings, with a through hole where the wires would pass through. This stuff sorta like flexible conduit.
I am sure places like Home Depot or Menards, Ace Hardware would have these.

McMaster has the well-nuts and rubber feet (with integral washer), but you have to buy a bag of 100. I have some of each (not sure where they are...). Let me know if you would like some. BTW Danzig, I have also known the pleasures of the Walbro.

Mike,
I will make a trip out to the shop. Pretty sure the well-nuts are there. A few bumpers got used for feet on a fixture I built, so their whereabouts are a bit trickier but a quest indeed. I'll let you know.
