Joe,

Very impressive collection! Not just the sleds but covers and riding suits too. Thanks for sharing your photos.

End of the Line .....
These 2 sleds represent the last of the Deere Sleds ever built. My 84 serial NO. 001 and Daves serial NO. 275 the second to last sled ever built.
Dave's is beautifully restored and my sled sits in original condition.

I want to thank Joe Wanie first for inviting me to attend which gave me a good reason to bring the Snowfire north. By the time I got there, Joe had everything set up! That was an incredible amount of work! It was really cool to have Snowfire #001 and #275 together. Joe’s Snowfire is completely original which is a great reference for correct setup. I learned my fuel tank vent line was not routed per the factory spec. We had a lot of traffic thru the sled display and some great conversations with retired JD guys who used to build and test these sleds! I really hope the sled display grows including participation of all the great people on this website. Brian Linder, thanks for the pictures and on-scene report! I’ll see you all at either Waconia and/or St Germain !

Side note. While restoring the sled in Texas, I can verify the engine ran just fine in 110F ! It may need a carb adjustment this winter now that it is back in Minnesota!

Great seeing you David and glad you could make it!

Perhaps one of the most interesting thing for me was meeting Bill Borth for the first time. It turns out a few of his neighbor friends were at the show and started talking to me.
They told me Bill is a good friend. 2 hours later Bill showed up and we all had some good laughs and great stories were shared. I own his 295/S factory race team sled (1of 3) known to exist. I bought it from Ed Kruel a few years back but never met Bill. Bill shows up quite a few times in the factory I-500 videos I was showing.

The following day Bill came back and presented me with his factory race team bag and inside was his racing gear, pictures, patches ....etc.
Thanks again Bill! I had him sign and date everything. :) Except I forgot the snowmobile :doh:

That's great. How did that phone call go? Hey Bill, you're not going to believe this, but we are in Horicon, and there is an old snowmobile here on display with your name on the hood!!

Joe, I would love to see the write up on the last Liquifire. It looks great by the way!!! Wish I could have made it up this year but timing wasn’t right. Maybe they will have a 50 th for JD sleds!? :beers;
