1980 Liquifire Rear Upper Idler Outside Spacer Length?

Post by Hec In Omaha »

Howdy All,

I am back working on my 1980 Liquifire track and suspension swap into my 1981 Trailfire as the snow is all gone now. I am in the process of preparing the suspension. The previous owner of the Liquifire really cobbled up the rear upper idler assembly. He used 4 spacers on the assembly. See PIC. I purchased two new idler wheels and two M67854 spacers from Smitfire for this suspension. Thanks Smitfire! One of the M67854 spacers will be used to make the two outer spacers. The problem I have is I don't know what length the outer spacers need to be or what the idler to Trail Arm cleance should be? The two outer spacers on there now are too short and the idler wheel hub wore a groove in the trail arm. I don't care about the this LIquifire Rear Trail Arm since I am using an 1982 Sporty rear trail arm in the conversion. I don't want my Sporty Trail Arm to end up like this one.

Can someone out there take a measurement of their outer spacers for me and post? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

The center to center of the wheels is approx 3-1/4 inch. That will leave approx 1/8 inch side clearance of the wheels to the frame.
