one more thought, even if you have spark check the resistance of the low speed stator wire to ground it will be the yellow wire on the stator it needs to be 2.7K ish to start and run right if its much lower you could still have spark but not enough to light a fire and run right
Wade...You win!!! I owe you a beer or two....
Mechanic double checked. he plug wires wouldn't reach across and I double checked the wiring diagram on my Vintage sled book. He found a different wiring diagram that showed them reversed. He changed the red and white and it worked. It only cost me $100 to learn not to be stubborn and although it is good to trust it is also good to verify. He has a Spitfire he wants to get rid of that runs but needs a brake disk. I haven't checked the track. I may become the owner of another green sled Larry
I already replaced the crank seals and now its starting after switching the wires from the CDI to the coils. Original electrical schematic had the white wire going to coil for cylinder 1 and red to 2. That's how I had it connected. We switched them putting red to #1 cylinder and white to #2 cylinder and it starts. Still needs carb adjusted. Funny thing is I used the schematic from the 1976 posted on the sled webpage.
The Good and the Bad.....
I jacked the track off the ground and set the carb. Slow speed out 1/2 turn, high speed 1 1/4. Set the choke...pulled it a couple times and it jumped to life....revved it a bit...opened the choke and BAM the left drive sprocket broke...anyone have a line on a AM 52563 or know of anyone who has parts?

Can anyone clarify the aftermarket CDI color code problem? Do the aftermarket CDI's simply have the white and red wires reversed in the connector? Or does this mean the red from the old CDI went to right (1) cylinder but the red from the new CDI goes to left (2) cylinder?
