I know members on this forum have narrowed and put 1980 Liquifire suspensions with cat tracks in there 76-78 Cyclones and Liquifires and call this suspension as close to 78 CC suspension as it gets. Is 80-84 the same suspension in all the fire series? im looking to do this conversion in one of my Cyclones but I dont know much about the fire series sleds.
Thanks Andy

Re: Fire Series Rear Suspension
The fire suspensions are not all the same, you want a Liquifire, or 82+ Sportfire version with all the idler wheels to run with the rubber track. The Sportfire version has a longer rear arm, which I think is for weight transfer or balance. It's debatable if you really need to narrow it. The track windows are really close, IMO close enough to run with.

Re: Fire Series Rear Suspension
I used a 1980 Liquifire skid, following the template of the bolt holes for a 1978 CC conversion from standard skid to the optional CC skid. The all-rubber track that I used was from a mid '80s Arctic Cat. Here are the part numbers.
The AC rubber track part #'s are:
0102-317....16x121x3/4
0602-113....15x121x3/4
both are 2.52 pitch used on
cougar, 85-88
El-tigre,85-88
Pantera,85-88
Panther,86-88
I also swapped in a Trailfire Hex Shaft and updated hex drivers.

Re: Fire Series Rear Suspension
Thanks Harleysporter. I have seen on some old post that you have done this conversion more than once so I might have some questions for you when I get started. Helping my dad restore a 1955 ford crown Victoria right now and we want to get it done by spring so my free time has been with him working his car so my sled wrenching is on hold for a little bit. Thanks again for the good information.

Good luck with Crown Vic, cool car. If you get serious with the suspension mod, give me a shout, I may have a lead on a track and skid.
