76 300 giving me fits

Post by stevenh »

This 300 quit running late last season so I parked it for the summer. It was hard to start and get running. I rebuilt the carb and put new seals in the engine 6 or 7 years ago and the sled always ran good. Today I pulled the carb and tore it down and found the fuel pump leaf spring (the tin one with the 2 tabs on it) was snapped in two. I replaced it with a used one I had and cleaned and assembled the carb with a new gasket kit. I still can't get the engine to start. It will fire on every single pull of the rope for a few revolutions and then stop. Any ideas on what to try next? I might pressure test the crank seals tomorrow to see if they are leaking. My compression is good and I have good spark on both cylinders. Sled has the 295 2ax and walbro wdb-31. stevenh

Did you try and clear out all the carb fuel passages too?
