The correct plugs for my JD 300 is NGK Br9es. I used one setting hotter, the BR8Es up until now. They told me at the parts store that the 8's may burn up my engine in colder weather so I put in BR9Es plugs today. It doesn't start nearly as well anymore. Is that the trade-off. Safer but poorer starting?
Can I use the hotter plugs safely or not? I hate how my 300 starts with the cooler plugs.
Also I did read the faq on this already. Good info, I'm just looking for past similar experiences. I really would prefer the hotter plug but am not in a great hurry to wreck the engine either.

plug question
spec sparkplugs are base use what you feel is best as long as plug color is good and also check you pistons once and awhile..tiny handy extendable lites are a must for that though

plug question
RP and Rich,
Thank-you both. I drive like my dad, slow with hands at ten and two, so i think I will stay with the hotter plug but check color and pistons.
Thank-you so much
Grant
