HELP!! Snowmobile Insurance

Post by zookey »

I searched the forums and couldn't find anything to help me. I'm from Michigan and I'm planning to ride in Ontario in a couple weeks so I need to get insurance for my 1974 JD 400. I called my insurance company (Progressive) and another company called Atlas and neither can even ID the sled. I really don't want to miss out on this trip so I'm wondering if anyone from Michigan has been able to insure their sled and with what company?

Mine are on my homeowners policy. Contact MISORVA (Michigan snowmobile and Off Road Vehicle Association ), office in Grand Rapids, they may be able to give you some suggestions. It seems I remember some years ago they offered insurance at a membership discount through some insurance company, but I haven't seen anything recent on that so that may have went by the wayside? And if you contact them, join up, they keep our trails open by working with the DNR and the State government. The annual membership fee is not expensive.

Have you checked out Hagerty? I know they are associated with fancy cars typically, but older stuff is their thing. Do a Google search for Hagerty Classic car insurance. They do insurance for antique tractors, maybe it could be classified as that?
