Hi all. Decided to take the advice of the members here and replace my crank seals. I have removed the engine. Removed all components and am down to the flywheel. I have removed the nut and retaining clip on the crank shaft. I tried using a harmonic balancer style puller to remove the flywheel. It seems stuck. My electric impact wont remove it. Thought about heating it but i dont want to damage anything. Any suggestions??
Thanks

Try soaking it with PB blaster for 24 hrs put the puller back on tight give the puller bolt a hit with a hammer and most of the time they pop, thats what i do when there stuck. If that dont work try a more powerful impact. hope this helps good luck .

I had a tough one where I left the puller installed, under tension, and penetrating oil sitting for a week. Came back, hit puller with hammer, and it popped off.

I've done that numerous times and not just with a flywheel. It's amazing what the penetrating oil can accomplish, even overnight.
I had a three point top link on a JD 4455 tractor where the upper end (in the storage position) was rusted fast due to the usual suspects. Removed the bottom portion, clamped the top half upside down in a vise, but couldn't budge the adjustment tube with a 3 foot pipe wrench. I filled the open side of the adjustment tube with Liquid Wrench and left it to soak overnight. By morning the Wrench had soaked through the rust, right out the bottom of the tube on to the floor, and the tube spun off by hand.

Thanks everyone. Success, i used penetrating oil and let pressure on it over night. Popped off with a good smack from the hammer

Re: 1981 440 sportfire flywheel removal tricks???
This question is related to the flywheel sort of. Long story short i had to cut the 3 wires from the staiter when i removed it. The brown wire i can figure out. My question is does it matter which way the yellow wire are hooked up? Can i interchange them if i guess wrong?
Thanks in advance
