Cyclone Clutching

Post by farleyjd400 »

I bought a brand new Comet #212600A clutch from a friend for a very good price for my 78 Cyclone 440. I installed a new silver spring (from new breed) and NOS R weights AM54279. The NOS R weights were hitting the inside of the spider so had to grind out some material on the insides of the spider where the weights move in all 3 spots so the weights would clear. After test riding it just doesn't seem like the clutch wants to shift to the next gear as you would say. If i ease the throttle then it seems to shift to that next gear. Does Comet still make these R weights? Any information would be great. I have owned 440 Cyclones and still have 3 of them and Ive played with different set ups but always been happy with the stock set up. I have never used a brand new clutch like this so maybe the set up needs to be little different, Im not. For whatever reason the 77 Cyclone i have just rips way better than any Cyclone 440 i have ever had. All clutching and jetting is all stock but the clutching on this sled just seems to work perfectly for some reason. If I could get my 78 close to this I would be very happy. Thanks
