Mikuni on JD 300

I just got a 300 motor and it came with a Mikuni carb and wanted to ask if this carb will work.

It has 8H9 01 on the side and measures 38 mm and is a butterfly carb.

Any idea on what jet sizes I should use or what the air idle screw should be set at?

The Yamaha Enticer 300 used Mikuni 8H9.
The jetting for the ET300 was:
Main jet #210
Pilot jet #90
Air/fuel screw 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turn out.

That would give you a good start when jetting for your 300.
