Trailfire headlight

Post by jdjock »

I’ve got a problem burning out lights on my 1980 trailfire. Started working on it yesterday and haven’t had good luck. Put a new regulator on it last April and just now tried it out. The low beam went out immediately so switched to high beam and that lasted about 5 minutes. Tried a used regulator that I thought was good and same ending. So tried another new regulator and a new bulb (3rd) one with the same result. 3 bulbs and 3 voltage regulators gone through. I’ve never had such problems with this. Anyone have ideas as to my problem? Where is the best place to get new regulators? Thanks. Tom

You probably have a short in your wiring somewhere.

I found the problem. One of the wiring connectors was not plugged in all the way. I think it was the brake light connector. Everything works as it should now. I wonder what’s next on these old John Deere. Ha ha.
