Storing SM’s for summer

Post by 340sracer »

What do you do about leaving Gasoline in the tanks over summer?
Over the last 50 years I have done nothing except shut the SM off and leave the gas in it.
So far I have been lucky & have had no problems.
Is there less chance of having problems with the older machines that have the mixed gas ?

Do you run non-ethanol?

I treat the remaining 1-2 gallons with Sta-bil prior to storage and run the sled around to make sure treated fuel gets into the carb(s). I also run the sled a few minutes once a month, although I must confess there have been skips.

I am running Opti-2 in my machines. Since it is a synthetic oil and is formulated with ethanol stabilizers, all I do it shut the gas off and run it until the carbs are dry. Has never failed me.
