I just finished rebuilding my '83 Snowfire motor and it runs like a champ. However, when it's cold I can't get it to start by choking it. If I put a touch of gas in the cylinder(s) it starts first pull and runs fine. If I shut it off, it'll start first pull everytime until the motor gets cold again. Then it won't start again.
I'm going to give it a closer look over this weekend and here's what I'm thinking. The choke mechanism itself isn't working. Air leak on the intake manifold which wouldn't create enough suction to draw in fuel/air but it has new gaskets so I doubt this. The air boot is new so this should be good. Fuel pump isn't working properly.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated so I can try to remedy this issue this coming weekend.

Snowfire Starting issue
I had a similar prob with my Snowfire....then I turned the idle speed down a couple hundred RPM's and the cold starting improved greatly. seems the choke circuit does not work well if the throttle slide is sitting too high.
