Source for Ski Wear Rods.

Post by snowmoer »

Just wanted to see where everyone is getting wear rods these days. All the places I have checked are out of stock with an unknown restocking date. I need them for an 84 Trailfire, Sportfire, and a 81 Liquifire.

The ones on E Bay were for older sleds. So, the search continues.

Sno-stuff 505-703 4" carbide, Dennis Kirk, Parts Unlimited, and some others. I run these on all my vintage sleds and they last forever.

Yep, tried all of those places. Everyone is out of them. I have been trying to find a E Mail or web page for Snow Stuff to ask them to make a run of wear bars. No luck there either.

I am thinking of trying to make some myself out of 3/8 rod. I have a few worn out ones that I could use as a templet. I would rather just get pre made ones.

Those carbide wear bars have been unavailable for years. Everybody is backordered at the moment but I would expect the regular wear bars to become available again soon since we're getting close to November. Manufacturers have been waiting to deliver winter items as long as they can. Newbreedparts.com will have them when they get in.

Thanks Matt for the update. I was looking for them last winter too and no one had just the regular bars. I will keep an eye out on New breed parts. I need to order some other parts too.

DK did have the 4" Excalibur II in the summer of 2021 for a short time. During this same time they were plentiful on eBay also, but it didn't take long for them to seamingly disappear.

Don Amber (Busco Bullet) has placed an order somewhere (maybe a machine shop) to have sets made of both 2 bolt and 3 bolt styles. He said roughly 3-4 weeks I believe.
