Hello everyone in John Deere Forum
I have just joined your forum, and all I can say is what a wealth of information!

As with most of you it all started when I picked up a 73 400 and started tearing it apart and the pursuit of knowledge concerning this sled has brought me to this site.

I have owned many sleds in my 50some years and raced the drag circuit for years with Polaris and lately Skidoo sleds.
Still the sight of all those vintage sleds at the shows brings a warm feeling all over me and I feel the same way when working on my new old project! While it is not anything special to you seasoned collectors, but it reminds me of a day when I rode all over the farms and dreamed of adventures!

Now with that said it brings me to a couple of questions
My serial # is 4000b 016586m 340 kec ccw engine Walburo Carburetor
I have installed the engine back to its original space, but it looks like the alignment is off.
I read that a straight edge should touch all four spots on the back inside edge of the drive system. ???.is this the way? I usually use a alignment tool on the inside of the drive and driven.
Second I see where two belts are given for my sled and I told part #m63911 orm63123
Any idea which belt is the correct one ?.I think 1 3/16 X 43 ? any idea where I might purchase the correct belt for this machine?

Sorry for the long post ?..And again great site!!

Clutch alignment: I don't understand how you are aligning it now, but the alignment tool like you usually use is fine. The original belt number is m63911, but that won't help you find a new one:
