becareful who works on your sleds

Post by jdriderinny »

Well guys Ive been trying to get my 500 going and everything i did just was not working. So i took off the motor (again!!!) and finially took it to someone who knows older sleds. Seems the guy who rebuilt it the first time never tore the engine all the way down when he replaced the piston I burned, just found out he left a piece of the piston in the crankcase.Yes he did do it very cheap but what cost about $100 is now going to cost around $300. He was suppose replace seals on the crank too but that never got done either . That little piece got all over the one of the cylinder and walls .He said the crank looked ok but he would have it checked out. Oh well hind sight is 20/20 like they say. Just be careful if you have someone work on your engines and make sure they are not in a hurry to do you any favors. It really is frustating when you have a foot of snow on the ground and snowmobile just sitting there. I just had to post so hopefully nobody falls into the same trap I did. Guess the old phrase "you get what you pay for" holds true again . The good news is i should have engine back this week with a warranty and there should still be snow.
