A complete fuel system "rehab" is vital on these on these old sleds. Go to the fuel system section, very good info to help you.

Kevin, you hit it on the head!

Go through the complete fuel system, new hoses all the way through, new filter, check the pickup tube in the tank.

It just sounds like your have a bunch of crud in the tank, make sure you clean that out. Take it out and clean it good.

I would even clean (soak) the carb again. I just got done doing this to my X4 and it is running like it was brand new.

Let us know how you do!

So did that take care of the problem? One other thing I was thinking about while I was running through these threads is to make sure you have a good vent for the fuel tank. Almost sounds like your pulling a vacuum on it.

Just a thought.

Your tank is vented through the gauge. If you look closely, you will see a tiny hole in the clear face of the gauge.

The pick-up tank fittings have two tubes if equiped with a Walbro, one for Bendix carbs.

Have you tried adjusting the carb?

Is your impulse line on? Sounds like the ole fuel pump is not pumping if its on, is it old and crappy, replace this if so. If all checks good, rebuild the carb. It could look like the pic.

I want to add to the prior pic posted. This was bought off e-bay. Rebuilt, ready to go too, I am going to have to hire the guy who rebuilt this. He did an awesome job.

Danzig,
Never give a positive feedback until you are completely satisified, even if it takes a couple of weeks.
