Hey Guys Im working on 78 440 Liqifire I have one question. Did this motor have the coil cover on it ot id they do away with it in 78? Mine didnt have one if it does anybody have one Thanks. Shannon

One of the two 78's that I have has a coil cover. I heard that people removed them due to heat issues with the coils. I would imagine those covers were thrown away years ago.

Right, they did come with them, but many were removed like Joel said. I would leave it off if they are runners.

This is an interesting topic. I looked at the parts book and the coil cover seems to have been deleted for liquifires serial # 80,001 an up. I have heard that some guys drill vent holes in theirs instead of removing them.

Thanks for the info guys Ill have to check S/N to see if mine came with or without. They are runners had it running monday night after installing new pto piston. The choke pull broke waiting for thursday to get my DK order to run it more. Shannon

Sled ran great today! Cleaned carbs new fuel lines put in new fuel 5 pulls ran great. Noticed temp gauge not working and hole in the end of pipe looked like it was drilled hole not rusted out. I checked my 77 no hole in it should this be there? It puts alot of smoke it engine compartment. Shannon
