New Race Sled

Post by That Girl Racing »

This is our new race sled. Picture was taken at the NHRA,s Spring Test Nationals in Valdosta Georgia last weekend. Sled ran 8.55@ 147MPH in the quarter. I know it is not a Deere but it does have a few NOS Deere parts on it. Peter

The sleds we race are Pro-Stockers, so it is not really fair to compare stock sled performance to these. They are all pretty fast. I would say Ski-Doo based sleds win more than the other brands. Hard to get big power out of the 4 stroke Yamahas but the old V-Max 4 cylinders are pretty tough. Peter

Nice Sled Peter! I am going to try to convert my old SnoCrosser to a tar sled. Main reason is that I intend on showing up to the Church next summer on sled, not in a limo.

Maybe a Deere would be a better choice, but I kind of like that 05 Cat now that it kept me out of the hospital this season.

What does you sled run for ET/MPH? Any Radiator or just using a cool down cart?

Again, nice looking machine!

I am building a tar sled / beer run machine right now...but taking a little different approach.

DISCLAIMER - before I get shot for chopping up a old sled, this is being built from all spare and scrap parts! No complete machines died for this monster garage experiment.

I am surprised at the amount of interest you guys have in the sled. Here is some stuff on it. It is a 1000cc three cylinder MRE motor, 270HP. We use Micro Belmont and Arctic clutches, 54mm carbs and MSD Digital7 ignition. We have a Liquifire rad in the nose but use a cool down cart between rounds. It has to weigh 650 lbs with the driver on it. The sled runs in the Pro-Stock sled class which is a heads up not a bracket class . It runs 8.50s@ 150 now but we hope to get in the 8.40s this summer.
