Hard to believe but true,...even the mighty V-Max 4s are quickly becoming vintage and soon will not qualify for competition under ISRs 15 year rule.

Nitro. Asphalt goes by NHRA/IHRA rules. The v-max 4 will be okay. Peter

What about the guys running Apex's & RX-1's with turbo or superchargers on them? Would they fall into your class?

They are not legal as they never came with a turbo. There are outlaw races which allow that. If we raced outlaw class we could put nitrous or a turbo on ours. There are lots of people running turbo Yamaha's and they run well. Remember, 2 strokes, everything else being equal make twice the power of 4 Strokes. I know there are exceptions. That is why the 1000cc RX1 runs in the 600cc class in grass and ice drags. Peter

Rich, what are they thinking? Yamahas at 600cc will never compete.

I like alot what Yamaha is doing with the 4strokers. Not that life or racing is fair but when you have a 150hp Apex running against 600cc sleds in enduro ovals & CCracing it's hard to say with a straight face that you won fair & square. I have ridden both of Yamaha's 1000cc 4strokers & there is no way DOO's, POO's or Cat's 600's can compete fairly with that kind of power. Yam's 3cyl is 600 class power & that is the sled that the racing bodies should only allow in these types of racing. Peter what all has been done to lighten the sled up to make weight? how heavy is the driver? Can you post pics of the motor. thanx AWZ

There are very few stock parts on the sled. Most parts are hand fabricated and lightweight. My drivers both weigh around 115lbs. We have to add quite a lot of ballast. Here is a motor pic.

The clutch on the sled is a Micro-Belmont Reactor. We also use the clutch in this photo. It is a Polar Performance clutch and is a updated/beefed up version of the JD TR800

Peter,
Awesome picture!! Great times! This gets my wife a little worked up - LOL! She is getting a 95 VMax-4 built right now for her to go bracket racing. Thanks again for posting about this on here.
