I'm finally getting around to getting my JDX-6 back together. I have a spare single fuel pump and 32mm mikuni out in the shop and I was wondering if I could convert my X-6 to mikuni fuel system. It looks as simple as a cable change, and finding the correct carb flange for the intake, plus finding a good fuel pump mounting location. Just curious if it works or not. It'd be easier to do the maintenance on it if I decide to keep it.

Sure, the swap is easy. You also need throttle & choke cables. The hard part is tuning it.

Thanks Matt. You wouldn't know off hand what carb flange application I would need would you?

Mikuni on a JDX?
This winter I put a vm34 mikuni on my 1975 300. Can't help you out on a flange cause I just made my own out of stainless steel. the carb is off a 503 rotax and I used the rubber boot(intake-carb). found that the best jetting for a 300 kohler was a 230 main jet, 40 pilot jet and the e-clip in the top or second position depending on the weather ( watch your plugs!). I used the same cable as my 1978 spitfire it is the right length, has a 90 degree bend on the end, and both ends fit perfect into throttle lever and into the top of the carb. Don't woory about a choke cable, just put a primer on and that's it. My 300 can sit outside in -30 C, and with two primes it starts on first pull. no room for air box though and it's not that loud. hope this helps you get ready for next winter!

Also I mounted the fuel pump right under the carb on the aluminum heat shield. works good and don't forget to plug the return line that used to go from the old carb.
