el tigre surprise

Post by flames4555 »

Well after reading about all of your bush wacking adventures i was feeling a bit cheated. There is just not that many old sleds around here, but sometimes the sled finds you. Heard about this sled through a guy at work and i wasn't really sure of the details but there was no containing my curiosity. Ended up just being a few miles from my house and a quick trip after work last week I found out he justed wanted it out of his yard . We lifted into the truck and i headed home.
It's an 88 El Tigre 6000 with a 530 l\c. The hood is a little beat up ,but other that its in pretty good shape. Best of all, is that the wife didn't seem that upset i brought home another one . I have always owned vintage sleds so all these creature comforts , like oil injection , suspension travel in the front , and the heated seat will be some welcome moden comforts. Does anyone have any expience with these , what should I look out for ?

Hi, looks like a nice sled. The most common problem Ive found on these is on the side of the hood, if you look really close, may need glasses to see it even. But look for these letters "arctic cat", that is a serious problem, lol. But seriously what made the guy want this gone so bad?

Apparently he has a somewhat wild nephew that wanted it , but he was afraid the kid would kill himself on it . It was pretty dirty and covered with pine needles so it wasn't all that pretty and looked quite neglected. With this one i was lucky because it cleaned up very well and now runs great.
Now if i could wave a majic wand and change it into a liquifire it would be perfect.
