put the new reg on it it work for 20 minutes before the light got real bright and bleww again. could it because i was only using the headlight and left all the blown out ones in? or what could it possibly be?

The other bulbs will not matter if not hooked up. You problably bought a regulator that was faulty and burn up prematurely.
