Hi, I bought two brand new Walbro carberators, still in there boxes to fit my 300 John Deere over e-bay. When I recieved them they didn't fit any of my John Deeres. I was wondering what exactly what engine do they fit so I can see if anybody else can use them. They have the number WR-1-1. Please help me I hate to see them go to waste. Thanks

he means that the bolt holes and opening are smaller than the intake on the 300 he has the older 72 models had the smaller carb for the kohler 300 some were also used on the ccw engine john deere had.

ie wr is equivalent to a hr tilliston

wd is equivalent to an hd tilliston

OR he has one of the few other walbro carbs that were not put on jds its wf series i believe i have one somewhere. they are simular to a kiehn carb.

Hi, Im sorry you are right they are smaller and will not fit my 300> So I guess they won't fit any sled after 1972, so Im stuck with some carbs that don't fit any other John Deeres. Thanks for your help.

Put them back on e-bay and re-sell them or post them up on www.vintagesleds.com, someone there might want them......just an idea!

The wr carbs fit on the 72 model 400s but they also need to have the screw holes on top for the metal bracket that the throttle cable attaches to. Walbros used on other brand sleds usally dont have these screw holes.

I hate to admit it, but when I first got into vintage Deeres, I bought a few things that didn't help me much. But I learned.

JDPARTS.com is the site to go to to find the part numbers of the stuff you need to identify. Of course it will only help you if the seller gives the PN, but its a start.
