Plastic skis for the Indy
I've been thinking about switching to plastic skis on my XLT for a few years now, and think I may finally do it. Does anyone have any expirence on what brand/model skis would be good for a groomed trail sled and best bang/buck?

The Polaris ones are nice. I personally like Polaris skis with the easy steer kit. It helps keep the skis out of other wear bar tracks....which get pretty irritating on long rides. The Polaris skis nice and thick in the Tri-Keel area which helps add to bushing life as well. A buddy of mine had a nasty run in with a rock one year, and he bent the keel and his trailing arm pretty bad. We got the keel off, and the ski flexed right back into its original shape. The bolt holes held up nicely too. I've heard that the C&A pro skis that DK sells have good floatation if you do venture off trail. Whatever you decide to go with, most people will tell you that it is worth the money.

The Polaris ones are really nice handling....the only prob I noticed with them is that the metal likes to crack just above where the ski'spindle mounting bolt goes through. Maybe Polaris has corrected this prob on the newer versions, but if you plan on buying some used ones on ebay, it's something to watch out for. Kimpex used to make a heckuva tough plastic ski. I ran one set of them on three sleds before they finally wore thin. Not sure if they're still available.
