Thanks Bob!! Just my point another topic that Rodimus is trying to fool everyone about. It's to bad that we have people coming to this site to look for valuable info and some know it all has to give out all the wrong facts. If we are looking for a ficticious story, we should all go to some childrens story book website. Rod, prove us wrong, show me the standing deer.
snowmobile trivia
i prefer the 2 legged dear to the four leg, i also like foxes and chicks and even the odd cougar. i find though that the standing dear are a lot easier to catch than the leaping ones.

Rich, don't avoid posting because of mis-information or being bullied about it. Not all of us can handle being corrected, but feel free to keep me on the straight and narrow!
Tim Kudla will never let me live down that the 82 Sprintfire originally had an exposed motor when I didn't know that I was holding a take off 82 hood in my hands about 6 years ago. Keeps me on my toes to keep the facts straight. Especially now the ETD guys on here, plus the factory engineers to boot. I look forward to what I can learn from ASM's like yourself, along with the factory guys.
You totally have my permission to correct any errors I post, REALLY. You are a wealth of knowledge, and I hope you continue to share it with us. But, the 340/s was Deere's first use of a 102-C
Just busting on you, sorry!
Take care,

PS: I checked my 1940 H S/N 17,000 even. Yup, jumping Deere logo on it orginally

I'm startin to wish I'd never asked the question about the jumping deere...sometimes there's just a lot of right answers, but some are more right than others. I should have been more specific with my wording...I meant the deere inside the round cornered rectangle such as on the hoods of the hundred series. Good thing I didn't ask who invented the snowmobile.
And like Joe, I'd appreciate being corrected if any of my answers were wrong.
qwerty, might I suggest eharmony for the two legged dear.......

I do know that the old Huski sleds had hardwood cleats on the tracks. The older Bosak's had wood skis, belly pan, track cleats and it was used as a simple bearing for shafts to turn inside of.

I know that the Ski Doo square shaft clutches used wood rollers throughout the seventies and possibly into the early eighties. Seems to me my buddies 81 Citation 4500 still had wood rollers..I think the later square shaft clutches might have used some type of composite roller.
and Danzig's 81 Trail Cat has a wood crate

snowmobile trivia
Didn't know that doo used wood rollers on the early square drive clutches. I know my 81 and 82 5500mx Blizzards use a composite fiber type like you had mentioned Pete.
I think to lighten up my spitfire for drags this year I am going to ditch the steel skis and bolt on a couple of hockey sticks on edge. Maybe composite hockey sticks if I want to roll with the big boys and take it serious
