setting carb

I set the carb on my sportfire just as the manual said to do, my confusion is this, it said to adjust throttle so the back of the body is flush with the bore. after that it says to release throttle and let the body seat fully. mine wont seat, it leaves about a 1/8 to 3/16 gap, did i read this right? please advise. did you back out your idle screw ( big brass one on the side of the carb ) out all the way first so it wont hit the side of the throttle valve?
