1976 Liquifire 440 Question
When looking for aftermarket pistons for a 1976 Liquifire 440 are there other models of sleds that use the same pistons?

Only the 76-78 Liquifire 440 uses those exact pistons. The L/C Kiortz motor was a Deere exclusive. It's a very simular piston to the KEC-440/22 F/C Cyclone motor, but with a larger wrist pin.
You should be able to find pistons w/o too much issue. Check with Dennis Kirk, Centeral Snowmobile, Manufactures supply or Image.

The pistons listed in Dennis Kirk fit both the fan and liquid cooled motors. The piston pin is the same, the needle bearings are larger for the liquid piston.
The listing is:
440 Fan or L/C twin KEC 440/22, 22A, 22B, 23LC- Cylone 76-78, JDX8 74-78, Liquifire 76-78 800 75( 66x64)
The L/C piston uses a 23mm(OD) needle bearing
The /22 piston uses a 22mm(OD) needle bearing

Thanks for the correction Harley! I forgot it's the crank end that is bigger on the KEC440/23's, not the actual piston pin.
So, Harley is correct that the LF's have a thicker wrist pin bearing than the Cylcone's and other 440/22's. Make sure you use the correct bearing since the pistons interchange.
Also to note: It's the KEC 440/21 that has the smaller piston pin, as used in the 1973 JDX-8. Those pistons do not interchange with the KEC 440/22, my bad.

I don't know how long they will last, but the last set of pistons I bought from DK were Kioritz originals. The pistons listed on the web site are listed as Parts Unlimited but they could still be OEM.
