Just picked up a Kawasaki Intruder. It runs good but none of the lights are working. The tach is not working either. It has electric start and there is no battery in it. Not sure if that would make a difference.
So what should I be checking? A possible bad ground? I am not sure where to start on this.
Thanks for any help.

Looks like the sled I handed its A$$ to last year on my CAT... That day was sweet.
Same week I took on a Yamaha Phazer and gave it the same treatment.......
Good luck with that one, I have another sled on the hook also over in Oglesby..
If that Intruder was mine I would go the kawasaki trax .com and ask them or wait and hear from Trucker who visits this forum.

Try checking the voltage regulator, when mine in the Invader went bad it took all the light bulbs with it.

Paul,
Glad I could bring back some good memories...
You ready for the snow tonight? Figures my sleds are now in Peoria now that I am in Ottawa and they are forcasting snow!!
440 invader,
I will take a look at the regulator. But the tach isnt working as well. So that makes me think it might be a bad ground.
Thanks!
Eric

Nice looking project sled. Is that a 79? Wish I could give some insight as to your electrical probs, but I'm a fool with electrical stuff. Those things were pretty quick for fan cooled sleds. Have fun with it.

It its the regulator dont run it because as posted in another topic you run the risk of blowing the CDI or the Coil. BOB

If its not the regulator check the electrical connector on the recoil side, mounted by the cdi on the bellhousing, for some reason this plug seems to go bad on alot of sleds. This is where the power for everything comes from.

Yeah I just want to get everything running right before I pull the motor. I am planning on putting the engine into a JD chassis. Either a 80 LF or SF chassis.
I believe its a 79 but i am not too sure havent taken a real close look at it yet.
The intruder has seen its better days...has angle iron running along the top of the tunnel....for added strength. There are a couple of nice kinks in the tunnel. So this sled is going to be parted out. I got a good deal on it plus runs!! I am really only interested in the engine.
Like I said I just want to make sure everything is working before I tear into it.
Thanks for the advice....planning on taking a closer look at it today!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
