l have a 340 cyclone and dont know how to hook up the tac can any one help it a 1976

Follow this wiring diagram, it is very easy. The tach leads plug directly into the factory wiring harness.

will it matter that the tac came from a scorpion

I don't know. The JD tachs get there power feed from the lighting circuit.
