Help- looking for an old topic

Post by ND1 »

Last year there was a topic on 80's Liquifire factory pipes, where a guy had cut the pipe lenghtwise and posted pics on the modifications he had made to the baffle portion. I have searched and came up with nothing. Anyone?

If I remember this topic correctly the pipe was cut open to check for a blockage not to modify anything.. Most likely if you cut a stock pipe open and remove the baffles etc your only gonna make more noise and probably lose power.

the thread you are looking for is called [liquifire exhaust] posted in march in the kawasaki tech talk section. i drilled some extra holes in the stinger/baffle tube, just because im an old school hot rodder with bigger is better mentality. i cant confirm that this either helps or hinders performance. i do know that i posted those pictures to satisfy everyones curiosity so that they dont go through the same hassle. i dont recommend modding these old classics, they are hard enough to keep running as it is. if you want to go real fast buy a modern 800+cc sled. it is cheaper and way less agravateing.

Keep in mind the Deere Engineers probably spent many hours coming up with a pipe that fit the chassis, & made HP at a curtain RPM, a 2 stroke needs back pressure to make HP, if you change that in any way it will move the power band, & then your clutching won't be right... If you want noise put on a set of tuners/expansion chambers, & re-calibrate your clutch accordingly.
