I'm in the process of timing a KEC-440/22 with a timing light. My question is do both cylinders need to be timed? Is timing for both cylinders even a concern with the trigger unit? My book only shows timing #1 cylinder
What made me think of this is that when I set timing on the older points engines you time the #1 with a dial indicator and a timing tester (squack box) adjusting the stator plate. Once #1 was timed you had to check #2. Only you adjusted #2 buy changing the point gap to time both cylinders.
If I set timing by #1 cylinder and timing on #2 is off what are your options?
Thanks,
Troy

With CDI you only have to time one cylinder once there the other will be in time also.
Once # 1 is right on # 2 should be there also. if not you have other problems. such as a twisted crank.....
As you said with points (not like the CDI units) you still have to ck the other cylinder also..
