early cyclone/liquifire chaincase
Is it possible to install a 79 trailfire chaincase on the early cyclone/liquifire sleds. Will the cyclone brake cable fit the later caliper. I noticed the brake pads have a larger surface area on the trailfire type chaincase. Is there an advantage to doing this.

It's like any mod you do to a machine..... Anything's possible, only you can decide of it's worth it...
More brake surface is probably only useful if you stud the track... My 77 with nearly shot pads will still lock the track up at 70 mph.

Harley, I'm not so sure that the 79- up brake pads are easier to find??? I would think that the older ones (because so many of the older sleds used the same pucks) would be more available Aftermarket
But if It were me I would use the newer Liquifire roller tightener & install a 78 chain case & use the 78 CC mod kit to put the roller tightener in it.
The roller tighteners aren't easy to find ( no NOS ones out there that I know of ) but if you find a parts Liquifire with a complete chaincase you've got one..
I plan on making up some 78 CC Chain Case Mod Kits after I'm done with the last of the CC Handle Bars & the Toe Hold Kits..
But to answer your question I don't think there is any difference in the chain cases other than the brakes or brake area I believe you could use the newer chain case with larger inner brake pad & your older outer pad & mechanism or the newer outer & I think your cable will still work..

i installed a chain case from a 80's liquifire in my dator. i had to make a thick shim to use the juice brake other wise it drops in and bolts up like normal. i even used the dator cover to hide everything.
