I would really like to know why your father is not getting excited to build this and put it back together. Instead of asking for money for Christmas or presents, how about asking him for his time to build the engine instead.

I agree with others, this is a good opportunity for you to spend some time with your dad and learn something. Im not tech savy by any means, but after my dad knew I was willing to learn and put some time and money into my sled, he got out into the garage and started working on it with me. My dad works 75 hours a week, but after getting out into the garage a few times, he actually has gotten into the snowmobile scene again- all the while I get to learn from him, and spend time with him. I started off this winter with one jd sled.. now we have 5 in the garage, and my dad is just as excited as me.

Well, if he is really too busy to help you rebuild the motor, then you either have to get a manual and tools, and learn how to do it yourself. Or seek help from someone else, whether it be a friend, family member, forum member, or a shop. Do what it takes, you wont regret it.

new gaskets, seals, original never used jd pistons, and original crankTakeItToTheLimit wrote: Gook, You have been a bit evasive to Danzigs questions about what new parts you have...is it just seals & gaskets...is it NOS Jugs & Pistons...etc.
What new parts you have is critical to someone being willing to step up and help out. Even when working at the dealership there were times that I refused to reassemble a snowmobile engine or even a tractor engine with the old parts or in a way that the customer wanted. It was his engine...but my reputation.

If I am picturing this right in my mind, I am looking at a nightmare. I can see this engine piled up in a heap in the corner of a garage, barn, shed etc. Covered in leaves and filth. Bolts missing, nuts missing, studs stripped etc. You need to compile a list of everything you have and need and let us see this list. I am no expert by any means, I am learning this also, by "doing it myself" 99% of the time, 1 % I am asking a question due to simply covering my butt.
Dont miss a thing and a picture of this engine as it currently sits I would like to see also.
