Best Find of 2007 ????
In a copy cat of what I thought was a cool year end post from Ed Poets (Deere Daze) last year.
Wondering what was some interesting finds you guys got and a bit of a story behind them.
I start off the post with my a reference to my other post of "1980 Liquifire Drag sled" and through that post located at least to this point the hood from my family's old sled "Liquid Lightning" from Peter (That Girl Racing) and to me this is the 2nd best I could wish for in 2007. Thanks so much Peter !
The best will be if with Peter's help I find the rest of the sled !!
Well guys ...let them rip.
Tell us your find of the century !!
Thanx Dave

On the serious side, it's hard for me to decide................no wait, it isn't. It has to be the 340/S. I was waffling because without the first Cyclone there probably wouldn't be a second Cyclone and the 340/S. The first Cyclone restoration was fun, fun, fun. The second Cyclone restoration has been...........well let's say challenging. Here it is December 24th, and it's less than 7 weeks from the Horicon and HOF ride. The sled is still a basket case.......Argggggghhhh. I feel like Boyd Coddington trying to get one done with a time crunch. Except this is real life, not TV.

This is easy for me! About a year ago, I started looking seriously for a 340S.
I ran an ad in a State wide newspaper for 4 weeks, and got a few leads on 340 Deeres, but not what I was looking for.
I put an ad on Iron Dog's, and apparenty that eventually bore fruit. I spent 7 months working on the deal, but eventually it was made.
A memorable trip to MI in July, and a visit by Greg stebner in August, and I had 3 340S sleds sitting in my shop!
One has since been relocated to Southern IN to fufill a promise, one is being re-assembled, one is waiting it's turn.
I need to take some better photos.

I've acquired many nice sleds over the past year and a half. But I will have to say that the '82 Sprint I found in New York state with the open hood that Rainville delivered was probably the surprise find of the year for me. It all happened so quickly and easily, just like it was meant to be. So many variables but they all pulled together easily.
The '82 Snowfire I found for $125 was also a nice find as well.
Frankies '78 CC Liquifire was a nice aquisition as well but it wasn't as financially satisfiying as the '82 Sprint or '82 Snow!!

My 77 300 traded for 2 arctic scraps that i paid 40 bucks for! haha deal of a life time. the one had a melted pisten and the other had blown cranck seal. got to the scrap yard and the 300 was sitting on a hill almost like it was calling out for me! so i offerd the owner a trade he said if u can load it into your truck because of his bad back he said take it.

Probably have to say the free 295/s on my trip to the A1 show. I did however pay the Man $200 to load it and deliver it to the freeway exit ramp so i did not have to leave the freeway. Yes it has the mint aluminum ski,s airbox and small tank.
Cant forget all the great people i met out there either. They do count.
