I have picked up A spitfire for my seven year old . With a Kohler moter I have two stator units with it but I dont get any juice from the lighting coil or the ignition side .The moter harness is unplugged from the sled. How do you test resistence on the coils,or are they bad? Does the harness have to be plugged in to get A compleat circuit? Please help
stators
I have not worked on any spit's but I have on sport's & trail's and they had to be pluged into the harness. There is a way to do it on the bench but, I found that it prob. would be easer just to set it back in the belly pan and plug it in. Also if you allready have the stator's out just bring it in to your local sled shop and have them test it while you wait 5/10 min. and they did'nt charge me (but) there all diffrent. So good luck hope I could help.

Both my trailfires and my sportfire and a kawasaki invader I just got motor similar to a liquifire all have spark with the harness unplugged from the motor. Now the kohler spits have a similar cdi that should also work unplugged I would have to guess almost any stator should atleast have power in the lighting coil wires with it unplugged. Id guess that its quite possible to have 2 bad stators but the chances they both have bad lighting coils also seems pretty hard to beleive. Sorry cant give you any real help here but surely someone on here will be able to.
