kawi 440 transplant to 71 puma

Just wondering if anyone knows if the motor out of my sportfire will bolt right into my 71 puma bigmouth. The puma has a 440 sachs in it now. But the kawi only has 160 miles on it. I plan on selling the sportfire after the surgery. The seat is great and hood has no cracks. Let me know if you think it will be an easy transplant.

I think if you get a motor mount from a 72ish panther that had a kawi it would be farely easy. However I would hate to see a sportfire stripped for its motor unless it was junk. The wiring wouldnt be all that hard either Id rather see you get a 634 hirth or even a 493 hirth to put in the puma. Im a die hard deere sled guy but love the big mouth cats myself. Even if you put an earliy kawi 440 from a cat in the puma it would be better than the sachs in my opinion. Im willing to bet if you have a sportfire with 160 miles on it you can sell it for enough cash to buy a few old cats and have several motors and parts sleds to work with.

the sled is rusting under the seat along the back. And the belly pan has two big cracks on both sides down low. It has been sitting outside for 5 years under a cover. The steering was froze up bad. Just got that working. I think they were a hard 160 miles. I am up in the air on this sled yet. But plan on taking it to waconia to sell if I find another motor or not. This seat on the deere is perfect shape, cant believe it after the size of the mouse that jumped out of the engine compartment. And the huge squirel nest in the battery box.

The bolt pattern on the sachs motor mount plate is not the same as a kawasaki. Some redrilling and large washers with slightly longer bolts will be required to make the swap.
But it can be done.

They offered the kawi in the 71 year. Maybe if I get a plate for the kawi it will make things easier.
