Ever since the Sprintfire came out in the early 80's I've been curious how good a sled it is but never talked to an owner of one or drove one. Having a Spitfire it seemed to address all the shortcomings. Liquid cooled instead of free air, oil injection, longer travel suspension, slide valve carb, plastic bellypan, etc., and still fairly light.

I love my sprintfires. Now I am looking for a snowfire any year just because I like them better. However I did have a discussion with one of our fellow members and he prefers the spit over the snowfire. I dont care I still want one for myself. The suspenion is as soft as my mach 1. If it had a good front that sled would have been dangerous I feel to anyone else at the time it was made. Just my 2ct.

I have two Sprintfires and they are indeed a very good machine. Sexy looking and fun to ride. Todd

I bought Cari Deerest a nice low milage 83 Spring this summer.
Good Points: Oil injection, runs great, very quiet, light, long travel rear skid for a vintage sled. Good sled for a smaller rider.
Bad Points: It's tippy for a sled with a 32" ski stance. Feels like you are going too fast at 30 mph, can be a handfull at speed. cleated tracks are getting hard to find in good shape. They also slip the belt at take off due in part to 8 tooth drive sprockets (vs. 7 for the Spit and Snowfire), and that results in a deep groove worn into the faces of the Comet 102-C drive clutch.
I've been teaching Cari to drive sleds on it, and I've taken it out a few times by myself too. It's a fun little sled to bop around on, but I would take any Liquifire over it.

The Sprintfires are great little sleds. I like the ride quality of this little sled, the lightness, the warmth(big windshield), oil injection, and quietness of the motor. It's a great little knock-around sled. Mine have been reliable as well.
