ski spreaders
ski spreaders
I ordered a set of spreaders for my JDX4 without looking real close at my sled. When I went to put on the spreaders I found that my ski/spring assemblies attach with just one cross bolt so that I don't have anything to attach the spreaders to. My springs are single leaf and the saddle is just folded onto them not bolted on. I would really like to widen the stance of my sled which I greatly enjoy riding but is awfully tippy. I was wondering about using two pieces of angle iron to make a saddle to attach to the bracket on the end of the spindle to attach the spreaders to and then drill holes in the spring and yoke to attach to the other end of the spreaders. I thought of using the angle iron since I don't have anyway to properly form a more correct bracket to allow mounting of the spreader to the spindle. Hope I am making some sense. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'd sure like to be able to talk by phone with any of you real experts out there--on my dime of course. I'm really anxious to get this done since we may actually have good snow on the way and I can ride on something besides this ice I've been on for so long now. ski spreaders
My 72 400 had home made spreaders- 2 flat plates about 4 inches wide bolted on top of the ski. It made it very stable but very hard to steer. I ended up taking them out this year. Just something to think about.
