76 liqufire shut off problem

when you turn the key off it only shuts down one cylinder, and you have to choke it to shut the other one off. I was wondering what the damage would be if i didnt repair it immeadiatly. Any wires i should cheeck first

Dose the kill switch work?
Follow this wiring diagram and check all the connections of the white wire from the ignition switch, the kill switch and follow the wire to the black wire of the cdi.

The black cdi wire may have removed from the engine coupler(cdi side) near the recoil and is plugged directly into the white wire(sled side)(this is ok, it was a product improvement)
Check the grounding of the black wire(sled side) at the engine coupler.

I can understand the possibilty of a poor ground not shuting off the engine. There are serveral connector/terminals that are in the circuit before a ground is established.

Do the lights flicker or the tach jump around?

But if one one side shuts down would that not indicate a CDI box problem?

What do you think Harley?

This would indicate that the something is wrong with the ignition system grounding circuit. Try this:
Unplug the black from the cdi box and ground it directly to the engine, then check for spark on both cylinders. If you still get one cylinder firing, then I would have to say that somethng is wrong with the cdi internally. Let us know the results.
