Today on the trailride at Waconia, I took the CC out. I'd gone through the carbs four times prior, cleaned the gas tank several times, new fuel lines, fuel pump, etc. Sled ran great. Anyway, today after about 10-11 miles of running great the thing just shut down. Did not sieze as it had great compression. I pulled it over, choked it, temp gauge works and was well within the normal range, didn't have any idling problems prior. Everything was great until it shut down. I pulled it back to the trailer, tried again, nothing. Once I got home, I put the compression tester on it 135-140 psi both cylinders. I took the plugs out they looked great and great spark. So I squirted a little gas in the cylinders and it fired right up and runs perfectly again. Now I don't know if it is electrical or fuel. Any ideas??

CC Liquifire Running Question
Robb,
If you are certain that you do not have fuel issues, I would say it is a ignition problem. A weak cdi system could start to fail after the engine warms up. Heat and electronics don't mix well together. If it fails again, check out the cdi system following the guide lines in the FAQ section.

Harley,
Thanks, I'll take it out for another spin and see if it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure it is not a fuel issue as I went through everything very meticulously.

CC Liquifire Running Question
If it does fail again check for spark immeadiately after it konks out.
If spark is absent than follow harlley's advice.
Remember to that the external coil can be affected by heat build up. And check the connectors in the ignition system for loose contact.

CC Liquifire Running Question
Do we have any pictures of how to test the round plug stators? I don't remember them being in the SM I'd Better go look now.
I would guess electrical Problems You were running too fast to be fuel and that long sustained run just to absolutly quit right there. something is warming up and loosing connection or something is getting weak after it warms it fails.

JDXspec,
The testing of round plug stators is the same as the retangle plug type.

Harley,
I know the procedure is the same but the connectors are different. It would be nice to have a picture of what pin is being tested for what winding.

CC Liquifire Running Question
JDX,
I have a round plug style stator. The color code is the same, blue(high speed) and yellow(loow speed)as the rectangle plug. The stator plug has 1 pin inside it that is the yellow wire and 1 socket connector which is the blue wire. Test each against the metal core of the stator.
