76' cyclone drive shaft

Post by larky »

haven't went and got the air jet yet today so to past the time I thought I would open the chain case and inspect everything. to make a long story short I discovered that my drive shaft slides back and forth. so when your are seated on the sled, the drive shaft will slide from left to right. I haven't taken the speedometer side apart yet. But I guess my problem could be there. was wondering if you guys have seen anything like this before.
Thanks
Matt

Could be on either side. Check for loose or missing locking collar, bad bearing(s), missing spacer, ect.

got it fixed, but I still don't know what was missing. when I took it apart everything that is in the diagram was in the right spot on the sled. to fix the problem i just added a bushing between the drive sprocket and the pressed flange on the speedometer side. It took up all the extra space, centered the track in the tunnel, and realigned my chain case sprockets. I will just keep an eye on it to make sure its going to be a lasting repair.
