We can put up to 50 cleats for the drags and stay stock. Found some NOS JD star cleats at the swap meet. What pattern would be the best? We are on packed snow.
Thanks, Bill
PS. Joe , we're putting the high alt. parts in the clutch as well.

I used star studs on my 295/s for ice drags. Since the spitty track is the full cleat not sure on pattern but put them in the cleat. Remove a rivet and install the stud. Makes them bite harder.my 295 hooks up very well with 32 star studs. (2 per cleat every 3rd cleat on a 2/3 cleated track)

I should have asked, did you put them all in the middle or some to the out side as well?

Hey Bill.....I assume you are studding up for the Govan/Earl Grey Drags. Is there a class for non studded sleds there.....or are mine just gonna look sick running without traction products? I was out riding my 300 yesterday and I swear it's as quick as my old 400 used to be. I was really thinking of bringing it but I can't bring myself to put the required tether switch on it. I'll likely bring the Alouette and just for kicks, maybe the old Massey if I can get it to quit flooding.

I believe they allow 50 traction products and you don't have to bump up to modified. Last year the Spit seemed to be able to compete for 3/4 of the way, but gave up too much top speed. So we're hopeing to capture a little more at the start, and maybe that will help be enough. Still will be testing tomorrow morning,we're having a pretty good blizzard here tonight, see you in the morning.
Bring the 300, just tape a tether on temp.

Well Bill, I set out this morning at six am in blizzard conditions and decided after 20 miles of driving thru white outs and drifts as hard as rock that it was time to turn around and head for home. I rang up Al's son and he said the drags are still a go. Apparantly, the wind has subsided in Govan but it's still pretty cold. I'll see what it's like this evening and if conditions improve, I might make it to the Earl Grey drags tomorrow. I was really looking forward to the Govan event. Hope you guys do well there and don't freeze your butts off.
