Engine gaskets

Post by jerryswiss »

I just want your advice. Do you guys use any type of "sealer" on the engine gaskets? On other machines, not snowmobiles, I have used a non-hardening black liquid, that is made by Permatex, it comes in a plastic bottle with a brush built into the cap. I know others use a silicone calk type substance out of a tube. There is also a copper based liquid that is brushed on that I have used on auto engines. Thoughts?

I have also used the permatex with the brush. its called aviation form-a-gasket. it is supposed to hold up against gas and oil. I've used it lightly on head gaskets and base gaskets and even intake gaskets. I thought I read someplace that it was ok to use in those places. If someone knows different please inform me.
