Liquifire questions
I took my liquifire out of a ride yesterday with some friend and came across a few issues.
1 Every time I got it wide open across a lake the fuel line would blow off of the fuel pump when I let off, it blew the right side twice and the left side once.
2 this morning I went to fire it up and all the fuel drained out of the recoil side fuel line. The other side was fine and it has never done this before, even when left for over a week.
3 I need a rear shock in the worst way, does any one know one that will work for my LF. I would like to be able to pick up one on monday or tuesday to get this thing riding a bit better
3 I went and picked up my merc from a guys shop on friday and after we were talking and he said I should put UFO's in my carbs. He said they stood for Ultimate flow optimizer, they would improve the performance of the carbs. He showed me a carb with it on and it was just a slopped plastic disc that attaches to the underside of your throttle valve. Any on have any experience with these things?
All in all not a bad weekend 65 miles yesterday and another 15 miles today before the wind picked up. I was riding with a new Polaris's and one old tx yesterday and was keeping up for the most part. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Liquifire questions
Scott,
Do you have any type of hose clamp on the fuel lines? They should be held in place with a hose clamp, either the spring type or the very small slotted band type.

I have also had success with zip ties on all hose connections.
Try intalling a fuel shut off valve before the carbs and turn off when not in use
I believe you can get the rear shock from Dennis Kirk. If you placed the order tonight should be able to get it by tuesday or wed. I think they run about $30.

I dont know for a fact how well the ufo's work but can tell you 1 thing. I bought a set to put in my 580 cat and after reading the directions and how much basically trial and era testing it took they are still on my shelf. I think for someone experenced with setting this up on a sled it wouldnt be to bad but as a 1st timer trying it it might be a huge headache.

Liquifire questions
Scott, I always have probs finding the correct size fuel line clamps. I ordered a whole bunch of different sizes a couple years ago and it always seems like they are just slightly too big or slightly too small. Now I simply use a thin zip tie on the lines. They work well and are inexpensive. Lately, I've been using Tygon fuel line. It's expensive but it stays nice and supple and slips onto the fittings so well that I don't think there's really any need for any type of clamps. The cheap fuel line always seems to get hard and brittle after it's been on a sled for a couple months.

Liquifire questions
From the pic u have posted,u r running a pre 80`s large body LF..I have 340S outside went to look at shock but there is a vicious storm blowing up.I`m positve that i used the same skock on my 80LF. ( kimpex # 04-245) .Next nylon ties work great on fuel lines, I had similar problems.. UFO`s I put my first set on a 97 Gran Touring 500 liq. Next I did my 80 LF. & converted nephews 71 TNT 440 over from tillitson to mikuni and ufo. Never had any problems unless you got sled really hot it would present a slight bogging at low rpm.Otherwise they are awesome. You have to judge your jetting according to riding conditions.

Liquifire questions
There is no clamps on the fuel lines and I thought I would ask before I threw some clamps on, I will have to figure something out before my next ride. I put another 30 miles on the liquifire and I need a shock in the worst way I remember some one on here saying that you could use a shock from a Honda quad and get improved travel. I had a look and didn't see the post so if any of you guys know any thing about this conversion let me know or I will go and order one from Dennis Kirk.

It may not be the prettiest JD out there but it's mine and it is mechanically sound.

Liquifire questions
Scott, that's a really nice looking Liquifire. I want to get one like that someday. Will you be going to the vintage derby in Minnedosa this saturday? If things work out for me, I hope to take my Sunfire there.

Liquifire questions
I will have to see. I would like to go but Minnedosa is a fair ways for me and my trailer is down for the rest of the winter. If I can get things cobbled together for saturday I might make it up there. I would really like to see this sunfire.
I know you guys are getting sick of hearing this but I need a rear shock and can't find one to order. Help me please I am desperate.

Liquifire questions
I don't have one of the older Liqs to measure the shock, but maybe it's similar enough to some other shock which is still available from OEM or aftermarket suppliers. How about removing your old shock and giving us some measurements? What is the center to center distance in the compressed position? In the extended position? Take these measurements from the center of eyelet to center of eyelet. What is the diameter of the eyelets? Are the eyelets the same diameter, or is one made for a larger bolt. I've got a couple dozen new and used shocks in stock. When I get the measurements, I'll compare them to the ones I have. You never know.....one of them might work for you.S_Kyle wrote:

Liquifire questions
I would like to but. The sled is in boissevain and I am in winnipeg untill friday. I will call some of my friends and try to convince them to remove the shock and measure it for me.
I might just have to suck it up and ride the sled with poor suspension.
