Riding the race sleds

Post by 400brian »

Two things prompted this post; Rainville's statement that the NY bunch intends to ride vintage in '09, and his recent purchase of a running 340S.

It appears to me that we have a significant number of members who have attended the HOF ride who have race sleds in their posession. If seems to me that if there was enough motivation, we could have 6-8 or more race sleds sitting at the HOF next year.

Campbell - 295S

Amber - 340S

Miley - 340S

Lindner - 340S

Rainville - 340S, '78 CC

Kudla - 295S

Acre - 295S, 340S

Those are just the ones that come to mind quickly.

The next question would be if anyone has guts enough to ride a Dator?

Obviously this is a long way off, but I spent over 6 months re-assembling the 340S I had there this Feb., and I'm not done yet.

Anyone motivated?

I am thinking of coming back next year, and could easily be persuaded to ride the 295/S. The only things I would want to do is swap out the full-width cleat track and install a front tank.

Brian,

You read my mind. I was thinking a 340/S reunion. But hey the more the merrier! I planned on this summer going through my 340/S with the goal of taking it to the HOF next year. Your 340/S sitting at the HOF this year was some serious motivation for sure. We need to get some of the ETD guys involved as well. These are just the guys I know of with vintage racers. Of course all would be welcome!

Carlson - Modified Liquifire

Enns - Liquidator

Very Intersting, could the vintage ride go to the UP.......and set the bar for future vintage rides anywhere! op's that darn competition thing keeps coming up, and could we drive HOF donations for every mile we went? Maybe get the Furrow to cover it as a historical event, JRC

JRC Just leaving the hotel for the Brainerd race today. Russ and Steve H. are here so will get to shoot the breeze with them this weekend. I'll see Steve in Vegas next week for the nascar races also. I've got some extra tickets and Neon garage passes I need to get rid of if ya know of anyone. 612-250-7500. I'll pimp Bobby and Doug for that HOF deal for next year. Later Bud.

All I know DON that it was a John Deere Bailer. The race promoter thought that was a good idea for lane dividers. The sled to the left was Bill Reed from Grand Rapids Mi. Belmont eng. backed. Rich, you maybe know or ran into him. The first pic is Bob Peterson, Fond Du Lac Wi. Factory backed. This is 340 mod class. My 340/s is ready to ride. Next years ride is a great idea. The 295/s will be ready also. This will be the last pics of summer raceing, have to save the rest of the pics and storys for future get toghters. Ed

Forgot to add Bill rides a Boa -Ski. This was a good day. Short track! Did very well on tracks 700 to 900. Longer tracks their horsepower took over. We had great clutching, Thanks to the help of Dick Teal. More storys at our next ride. ED
